This vegan and vegetarian restaurant has a creative menu and a wide selection to choose from. The food is delicious and much care is given in where is comes from. You can get good value here and it has a nice atmosphere. It is an open air restaurant on 30th Avenue and the corner of 20th Street. This restaurant is in the top four you much visit in Playa Del Carmen.
This vegetarian restaurant is going to be one of your first stops. This restaurant is dedicated to providing vegan, vegetarian, and raw foods. La Senda is on 10th Avenue between 10th Street and 12th Street. Open 8:30am-10:30pm Monday-Sunday.
Chou Chou Café
This is a coffee house and café that has amazing coffee and quality food. This restaurant is not a fully vegetarian restaurant but does offer wholesome food and a lot of salads are on the menu. Besides the good coffee and food you will be impressed by the open air décor of the new café. Not only is this place good for the stomach it is good to the eye as well. This is a simple and healthy restaurant with gourmet options. They serve three main things here, salads, quiches, and sandwiches. This restaurant compared to the Salade restaurant gives you a little nicer option for a healthy salad.

Salade (formerly called Barra Light)
This is a healthy place to grab a salad or sandwich. It is most know for its salads though. You can build your own salad here and most people consider it reasonably priced. Check them out at the corner of 15th Avenue and 10th St. That is the corner of the park in front of the Palacio Municipal (City Hall). Hours are Monday-Friday 9:00am-9:00pm and Saturday – Sunday 10:00am-9:00pm.
This is a vegan and vegetarian restaurant and healthy food store on 26th Street that is a newcomer to the healthy scene in Playa. It is very affordable and a good option for breakfast and lunch. They have plans to open for dinner in the near future. Also their store has a good range of products if you are looking for organic, vegan and vegetarian options.
This vegetarian friendly restaurant is on the north end of the downtown where you can get a large selection of juices, salads, vegetarian options and healthy menu items. This place has a nice open air restaurant with trees in front. Prices are very affordable and lunch specials are available during the week. This is on Avenue CTM between 5th Avenue and 10th Avenue.
This is a new addition in Playa Del Carmen and a hidden vegetarian spot. This is a small restaurant that serves all three meals a day. Along with a vegetarian menu they have a Mediterranean/middle eastern leaning menu. The restaurant is on 20th Street between 10th Avenue and 15th Avenue in the Green Village hotel. Enter the front door and you will see the courtyard in the back where the restaurant is. Open 8:00am-11:00pm daily.
This is a small counter restaurant in a market on 10th Avenue between 8th Street and 10th Street. Here you can get vegetarian salads, fruit cups and light meals. Healthy juices are also served here. Since this is on the south end of town this makes for an attractive option for juice and light eating. The hours are Monday-Saturday 8:00am-7:00pm and Sundays 9:00-7:00pm.
This is a funky and artsy restaurant out of the center of Playa Del Carmen. In this colorfully decorated place you can have an affordable meal and most things can be made vegetarian. As a perk for going the distance to this place you can check out some of the murals on the walls nearby. This restaurant is located on Calle 19 Sur between 80th and 85th Avenues. Open Tuesday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm Saturdays 9:00am-1:30pm Closed Sundays.
Many people look to Asian restaurants for vegetarian options and this Thai restaurant does not disappoint. They have about 20 options for vegetarians and they are very good about telling you what dishes are possible to be made vegetarian and what ones have fish sauce. This is a more upscale Thai option in Playa and good for a nice dinner our. See our review for prices and a video. Gluay Maai is on 38th Street between 5th Avenue and the beach. They are open from 3:00pm-11:00pm daily except Tuesdays when they are closed.
This vegetarian friendly restaurant is connected to Dac Market and there is always a hubbub of activity here. There is a large menu with vegetarian options and don’t forget the best fresh juices and smoothies! DAC Market and La Ceiba Dac Restaurant is located on 30th Avenue between Constituyentes and 20th St. Open Monday-Saturday 7:00am-8:00pm and Sundays 7:00am-2:00pm.
This small Playa Del Carmen restaurant is out of center in Colosio neighborhood. This small place offers juice and simple healthy food. There are many option for vegetarians and people looking for healthier side. They are located in 10th Avenue between 68th Street and 70th Street. Open daily from 7:00am-1:00am.

Bio Natural & Organic Store has to locations in Playa Del Carmen. One is on 10th Avenue between 16th Street and Constituyentes Avenue and the other is on 5th Avenue between 40th and 42nd Street. They are open Monday-Sunday 8:00am-11:00pm. Kitchen closes at 10:30pm.
is a healthy restaurant with smoothies, whole wheat sandwiches, juices and salads. It is a little commercialized but still they are dedicated to more healthy options for eating and drinking. Frutiyogurth is located on the corner of 40th Avenue and 34th Street. They are open Monday -Sunday 8:30am-10:30pm.
This is an Italian restaurant with a very large menu. There are a lot of pasta and pizza options here. This is a chain restaurant but has a very nice tropical setting and good food. This restaurant is on 38th Street between 5th Avenue and the beach. They are open Monday-Sunday 12:00 noon-1:00am.
This is a healthy option with some Mexican dishes like chilaquiles. They also have a large selection of juices and smoothies. There are three locations in Playa but we like the new location on 30th Avenue the best. The newest location is on 30th Avenue by 22nd Street, not to be confused with the old location that is still open a block away. They are open Monday-Sunday 7:00am-12:00 midnight.
This is a French café/restaurant that just also happens to have a good bakery in the back. They have a good breakfast with vegetarian omelets and several vegetarian baguette sandwich options and salads for other meal times. Chez Celine is located right on 5th Avenue between 32nd and 34th Streets on the east side. Open everyday from 8:00 am. -11:00pm.

Falafel Nessya Restaurant
This is a middle eastern falafel restaurant on 4th Street between 10th Street and 15th Street. You will get friendly service and vegetarian food here. This is on a quiet side street in Playa.
This is a quesadilla making local place where you can get Mexican quesadillas in vegetarian form (for example squash blossom with cheese). This place is a chain and has multiple locations in Playa Del Carmen but the easiest to find is on 10th Avenue between 10th Street and 12th Street. Prices are inexpensive and everything is made to order. Expect to pay less then a dollar for one. Usualy two or three will fill you up.
This vegetarian friendly restaurant has an assortment of pastas an noodle dishes including vegetarian options. Expect a range of flavors but the Asian flavors are a highlight. Babes is on 10th Street between 5th Avenue and 10th Avenue. Hours are Mondays-closed, Tuesday-Sundays 1:00pm-12 midnight. Below is a photo.

Health food Stores in Playa Del Carmen
Are you looking for some good ingredients you cannot find in the supermarkets? Perhaps it is organic produce, special seasonings or gluten free products. Below is a list of some places where you can find certain products in Playa Del Carmen.
Bio Organics is a new store in Playa with vegan and vegetarian food stuffs. This store is on 26th Street between 5th Avenue and 10th Avenue. Open Monday-Saturday from 8:00am-9:00pm Sundays 9:00am-9:00pm.
Dac Market is more of a local store where you can get food in bulk like grains, fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables. There is also an assortment of cheeses and some baked goods like baguettes and brownies. Dac Market is on 30th Avenue between Constituyentes and 20th Street. Open Monday-Saturday 7:00am-8:00pm and Sundays 7:00am-2:00pm
Bio Natural is the largest organic and healthy food store in Playa. This store with connected restaurant is on 10th Avenue between 16th Street and Constituyentes Avenue. Open Monday-Sunday 8:00am-11:00pm.
Pacsadeli is a small restaurant supply market that is open to the public. This is not necessarily a healthy food store but there are two things to note here. One is a whole rack of gluten free products they offer. The other is the wider then normal range of Asian sauces that can make vegetarian cooking more savory. Both of these things they usually have here but specific products tend to rotate around. Pacsadeli is located on Avenue Andres Quintana Roo (Av. 34) between 70th and 75th Avenues. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-6:00pm Saturday 8:00am-3:00pm and Sunday closed.
Juice Bars in Playa Del Carmen
Campo Real is a small juice bar with a small amount of food. You can get fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies with grains and nuts added. Campo Real is on 45th Avenue between 16th Street and 18th Street (This is almost behind the water company office Aguakan). They are open Monday-Saturday 6:00am-3:00pm and closed Sundays.
La Ceiba Restaurant has amazing juices. See above under places to eat.
Nativo Restaurant offers juices in small or liter size. See above under places to eat.
Also check out the very local stand on the corner of 2nd Street and 25th Avenue. They don’t have a name really, just locals know where it is. They have a wide range of fresh juices and combinations of waters with fruit. Prices are very reasonable with most things being 15-20 pesos.
Jugos Y Antojitos “El Huerto” is on 30th Avenue and 28th Street on the corner. This local restaurant makes a lot of fruit juices and fruit smoothies. You would not necessarily make a special trip here just for the juice but it is a good resource if you are in this part of town. They have some basic food here, it is mainly a little greasy. There are some vegetarian options, but stick to the juices for your health.
Vegan Desserts and Vegan Bakery in Playa Del Carmen

The Pitted Date vegan bakery and café is the only vegan bakery in Playa Del Carmen and they are also a restaurant. They do a nice job coming up with cakes and tarts for people to enjoy. Check them out on CTM Avenue and near 1st Avenue.
