Here is an Overview of Xcaret’s Parks and What They Offer
Xcaret Park
This is the original flagship park with more than 50 attractions showcasing Mexican culture, wildlife, and nature. You can swim in underground rivers, visit aviaries and aquariums, see local performances, and enjoy food and drink options throughout the day. The park stays open into the evening so you can catch the famous Xcaret México Espectacular show that highlights traditions, the culture of Mexico and tells a brief history of how modern-day Mexico evolved from indigenous culture and Spanish influence.

Xcaret Park is Best For…
Xcaret Park is best for adults that like culture, shows, beautifully designed architecture and a big day of exploring.
Pace of Visiting Xcaret Park
This is a full day park where you can walk at your own pace. There is a fair amount of walking and exploring, but you can rest and relax in scenic areas. Xcaret Park is the largest and the park that is open the longest part of the day so guests can have time to visit all the corners of the park and see the shows. Xcaret Park opens at 8:30am and closes at 10:00pm. You don’t need to arrive right at 8:30am but you do need to see the big show starting at 7:00pm which goes to around 9:00pm.
It is impossible to see everything in one day at this park, but that is the fun of picking the main things you want to see and randomly finding tunnels, caves, and shows throughout the park.

Xel-Há Park
This park is a natural aquatic wonderland built around a huge inlet that connects to the Caribbean Sea. It is highly focused on water activities including snorkel adventures, floating on tubes, cliff jumps, and swimming in calm waters. Food, drinks, and bar service are included with most ticket options, which makes for a relaxed all-day experience.

Xel Ha is Best For…
Xel Ha Park is good for relaxation, sun, swimming, enjoying the nature of the Riviera Maya and being outside. This park will have you in the sunshine the most, so bring your biodegradable sunscreens.
Pace of Visiting Xel Ha
Easy and flexible; you decide how much you want to do and use the included amenities to relax between activities. It is easy to go at your own pace and there are many areas of this park to just walk around and explore. There are no circuits, just lots of activities. Then main activity is snorkeling or taking a float at starting at the entrance from an underground river that surfaces and runs into the inlet and ocean.
We like to get to explore a little and then go to the beginning of the lazy river. Floating or snorkeling back toward the entrance. By this time is it getting time to eat lunch. After lunch, walk around to the far side and, seeing the rest of the park and then swimming some more after your lunch is settled.
Xplor and Xplor Fuego
If adventure is your top priority, this park delivers an adrenaline-packed day or evening. Think towering zip-lines, amphibious vehicles, underground river paddle circuits, water play and more. Xplor is a daytime adventure park with included food and drinks, while Xplor Fuego is a nighttime adventure (at the same park) with fire-lit paths and glowing elements that change the vibe but keep the same kinds of activities.

Xplor is Best For…
Xplor is best for thrill seekers and people that like to be active and do new things. The main thing people like here are the zip lines. There are two circuits. Xplor has by far the best ziplining in all of the Riviera Maya! Don’t get fooled by ticket sellers trying to sell you a cheap zip line activity tour. They do not compare with Xplor. This park is best for people that don’t have physical limitations.
Pace of your Visit to Xplor
Xplor Park is high energy; expect to stay on the move with speeds, heights, and active play. There are two zip line trails. You have time to do all the activities in the park at least once during the day. But, for example, when you start the zip lines you need to finish the whole circuit. You are not rushed but there are lines to participate in each activity. You can do any of the activities in any order you want.
We prefer to start with one of the zip line routes, then then the underground paddle boats. Then taking time to eat lunch at their buffet which is pretty good. After lunch a little break by taking the jungle jeep driving and then finishing all the activities we had not finished. This can leave some of the water activities like swimming in the underground caves for the hotter part of the day.
Xenses Park
A smaller park that plays with perception, illusions, and sensory experiences. Think of this place as science museum with all the cool things and not the boring stuff. You walk through themed circuits, try unusual optical illusions, float in mud rivers, and explore quirky environments that test your balance and senses. It is shorter in duration than other parks and feels more like a playful, surreal art walk. This is the only park that is a half day.
Xenses Park is Best For…
Xenses Park is good for people who love quirky experience. If you love taking cool photos, this might be the best park for you. The main street that is built at an angle fools even the most perceptive people! If you want a shorter excursion, this is a half day park.
Pace of Visiting Xenses
Light to moderate walking with interactive elements. Xenses is a smaller park than the other Xcaret parks. There is so much to see (like details around every corner) that you walk slowly around discovering this place.

Xoximilco Park
Xoximilco Park is based on the area of Mexico City called Xochimilco. It is the original part of the Aztec city that had canals and boats that would go up the canals. Xoximilco Park is a dinner cruise on traditional small boats with Mexican bar games, mariachis and about everything Mexican you can imagine. Boats are split up into language groups or two language groups with a bilingual guide.
While you slowly go around the canals you are serenaded and pass by iconic symbols of Mexican history. All while eating and drinking traditional Mexican food and spirits. At the halfway point there is a bathroom break on an island where you also can join in a lively dance party.

Xochimilco is Best For…
This park is good for people who understand Mexican culture a little. This will help you get some of the jokes and cultural references. Imagine getting a guided boat and going past performances or having a mariachi pull up in a boat next to you to serenade you. You also eat on the boat and have some time to dance at the halfway point. This is also a evening experience. So if you want your day to spend at the beach, you have something special at night. If you want to avoid being out in the sun, this is a great evening activitiy.
Pace of Your Visit
The dinner cruise starts at the same time, and you are loaded onto small boats with a table down the center. While on the boat your guide will tell you stories, history, play drinking games and guide you through your dinner. There is one stop at the halfway point where you can dance under the states. There is dancing on the boat, but it is up to you how much you want to participate. This park is good for all ages, even grandparents can enjoy this because you are not walking much and just enjoying the slow boat trip.
Xenotes
Xenotes is not actually a park but is a fixed spot and has everything set up for a great experience for visitors. Xenotes is all about the local cenotes that you can swim in. Cenotes are freshwater pools that are created by the underground ground water flowing through the limestone base of the peninsula. On this day tour you can visit 4 different cenotes, have a picnic lunch and a little adventure like ziplining. This park is between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun near Puerto Morelos.

Xenotes is Best For…
This park is best for nature lovers and those that want to visit some cenotes in a guided group. Since you will be swimming and doing some activities, you must like swimming and water to enjoy this park.
Pace of Your Visit
Groups go through a circuit of exploring cenotes. Each one has something different to offer. Medium pace and activities are an option at each cenote. Overall, it is a relaxing day enjoying the beautiful natural setting of these cenotes. There is some swimming (with life vest), a type of rappel, and ziplining.
Xavage Park (currently closed)
We are going to include Xavage Park here because there is a chance it can reopen in the future. It closed during a drop in tourism and for some upgrades.
Xavage is an adrenaline park and even more extreme than Xplor Park. Xavage has activities like lay flat ziplines, extreme three level obstacle course, monster truck driving, power boat rides and more!

Xavage is Best For…
Xavage is good for people that like extreme fun. Xavage has some things like white water rafting which is something many people have never tried but can in a safe way get an experience. If you like being active and doing extreme activities, this park is for you.
Pace if Your Visit
You can go at your own pace, and you often have time to do some activities again. Some activities open earlier than others. Technically you can do each activity once, but if available you can do things a second time. There are no groups or fixed circuits to do here, so you can go at your own pace. However it is an active park, so you do need to be pretty active to do everything in once day.
If you like the sound of any of these parks….

Best Xcaret Parks for Young Adults
Young adults often look for a mix of energy, social moments, adventure, and scenery. Here are the parks that most consistently appeal to this group:
Top
Xplor or Xplor Fuego
Uber adrenaline and adventure. Zip-lines, water circuits, night adventure options and physical challenges make this park a top choice for young adults who want thrills and action. The nighttime switch with Xplor Fuego adds an extra layer of excitement. Personally, I think going to Xplor during the day is best. So many of the towers for the zip lines have great views you can enjoy in the day. Also, you are wet a lot of the time at Xplor Park, so having the sun and warmer day can be more comfortable. See more in our article about Xplor vs Xplor Fuego and which is better to visit.
This is a great park to visit as a couple or with friends. The best age range for this park is 18-45 years old adults.
Xel-Há
Perfect for a laid back but still social day. The all-inclusive food and open drink options paired with water play make this a favorite for groups of friends who want fun and relaxation at the same time.
This park is good for adults aged 18-50. Younger adults can enjoy the cliff jumping and zip lines into the water. Older adult can enjoy the snorkeling, quiet nature trails, and relaxing on the floats in the water.
Xenses
This is a great lighter option for young adults who like quirky and unique experiences that are perfect for photos and social sharing. There are tons of good photo ops at this park. This is the only park that is a half day experience. So, if you are looking to fill half a day, this park is good.
Since this park is like a kid’s science museum, we think this will appeal to younger adults. Ages 18-27 might enjoy this park. Older adults can find the park very well designed and fooling your senses all the time.
Xcaret Park
A good choice if you enjoy culture, nature and local tradition as well as an incredibly laid out park. The evening show and festival atmosphere provide a memorable experience. If you think that walking around the park all day will be too much, you can also just pay to see the show at the end of the day. It is sort of an Xcaret night pass. This is a good option for older adults that want to enjoy this amazing park and show.
The adults who will most enjoy this park are adults ages 20-60 years old. This is a large park and does require a lot of walking. It is also the longest day at any of Xcaret’s Parks. However, there are so many aspects of this park, that you can stroll around and see things that less active and have an amazing day. If you come for just the show, all ages will enjoy it! It has over 300 people and animals in the show in the grand theater.
Best Xcaret Parks for Older Adults
For adults aged 50 years old or more, these are the best park recommendations for you. Older adults often want comfort, slower pacing, scenic spots, and options to enjoy beauty without pressure to move constantly. These parks tend to be a better fit:
Xel-Há
This park is ideal for older adults who want a relaxed day in nature. You can enjoy the water without high intensity, rest in hammocks, and take your time exploring the natural inlet and marine life. It is less strenuous than some of the adventure parks while still offering a full ecosystem of activities and amenities.
Xcaret Park
This park offers a wide variety of experiences that do not require high physical effort. There are cultural exhibits, scenic walks, animal sanctuaries, river floats where you can choose calm sections, and plenty of spots to relax or take breaks. The evening performances may be the highlight for visitors who want memorable entertainment without exertion.
Xenses
This can also be a good option for older adults, especially those who enjoy playful and thoughtful experiences rather than physical exertion. Just be mindful that some illusions and sensory activities involve narrow paths or interactive elements.
Parks to Approach with Caution
Xplor and Xplor Fuego may be less appealing for older adults who are not comfortable with heights, physical challenges, or sustained activity. These parks are better suited for those in excellent physical condition.

Thanks for your help on this topic. I have my parents coming to the Riviera Maya and we have been trying to see what tours and things are good for them. Xcaret parks are always some of the most recommended activities, but I wondered the physical limits of each.
We are a little more adventurous, so we loved Xplor. BEST zip lines in North America I think!
