What activities are there to do?

Do you want some extreme activities to do while on vacation? Want to get your adrenaline pumping? Well, Xavage has it for you! Here are the activities you can partake in.  Note: Each activity has a video introduction and explanation of the safety instructions.

Kayaking

Rope obstacle courses

Challenge yourself to one of 4 levels of obstacle courses. You will have a harness and security line on the whole time. The first level is the easiest and it gets harder the higher you go. This activity takes about one hour to 90 minutes to finish depending on how many levels you wish to do.

Note: This is challenging and fun to do with friends. The entire time you are connected by two cables. The cables are only able to be opened one by one and you are always connected. You will also be given gloves to use on this activity.

Kids play area called the Spash Zone (ages 5-12)

This is a wading pool area with slides and fun climbing activities for young kids. This attraction is for those with young people in the family that want to have fun but might not meet the height and weight requirements for the activities at Xavage Park.

Flying on a zip line

There are two tracks that you can take a short flight on. There is a special body harnesses that allows you to lay face down and fly through the air. This is a little different form of zip lining. Tip: Relax and enjoy your flight! The track moves some and you will naturally sway side to side on this ride.

Power boat ride

Zoom down some of the canals at Xavage Park. You will experience speeds up to 45 Mph (72 Kph). Sometimes doing a 360 turn in the water. These boats are so powerful you will feel like you are flying. These are the same type of boats that are used for racing. Now you can experience these fast boats in a controlled space. You will get wet during this activity.

White water rafting

This unique manmade course will give you a taste of what it is like to go white water rafting. Each raft has an experienced captain that will give you instructions before going down the route. it is fairly easy to learn how to sit and paddle and it more fun than anything. During the trip you will go over two drops. One is a class 2 of 1 meter and a class 2 of 2 meters.

Overall, this is a fun activity that can get your adrenaline pumping a little. The first time on rafting we thought it would feel a little dangerous, but it turned out to be all fun!

Extreme monster truck driving

If you have ever wanted to challenge your driving skills on an extreme driving course, here is your chance! The course is one mile and has 15 obstacles on it. Meals and drinks

In the morning there is a snack bar that is open 9am-12noon. Here they have pizza slices, fruit, cookies, and fruit juices.

At noon the international buffet opens. This large buffet has a range of international dishes and some familiar things like hamburgers. You can also find things like a taco bar to get your fill of Mexican food. To finish your meal, they have a good selection of cakes and deserts including soft serve ice cream.

At both the snack bar and buffet you can eat what you like and go anytime during the open hours to power up for more activities.

Photos of your day at Xavage

Throughout the park there are cameras that will take your photos. These organize and label the photos by a chip in your helmet. Since you have your helmet on during all activities, you will get photos of all the extreme things you do during the day. Cameras are placed at all the right spots to catch you in the action.

During the day you can scan your bracelet and see the examples of the photos on TV screens. At the end of the day, you can purchase these photos. You can buy packages for 1 person, 2 people or more. Having these cameras take photos is a good idea since on some activities you cannot take a camera at all and need to have your hands free. On the jet boat you are not allowed a helmet mounted camera. So, some of the activities are hard to get photos besides the cameras in the park.

Gift shops

At almost each activity there is a gift shop with unique things that relate to each activity. They have some nice souvenirs that you can purchase along with things you might want to use in the park itself. They do sell clothes and aqua socks in case you need something to use in Xavage Park.

Spash Zone

This is the area for children ages 5-12. This area in itself is a pretty fun area for kids to play in. This area is meant as an area for children to playa while adults play in the other parts of Xavage. If you do bring you ger children, be sure to check the height and weight requirements for each activity at Xavage Park. Note: All children much be accompanied by an adult while in the park.

How do you get to Xavage Park?

Xavage Park is between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen on the 307 Highway. It is also the same location of Xoximilco Park. From many of the hotels in the Hotel Zone of Cancun this is about a 20–30-minute drive. From Playa Del Carmen it is about a 46-minute drive.

Because public transportation is very hard to use to get to Xavage Park, we recommend either driving yourself or booking the transportation of the park.  Note: You can only book transportation when your purchase your tickets.

Transportation to and from the Xavage Park is in air-conditioned buses.

Taking Taxis to Xavage Park

It should be noted that many of the hotels in Cancun a ride to Xavage Park is about 25 minutes. Taxis are not metered in Cancun and prices are subject to the driver’s discretion. At some of the hotels there are price list for the taxi stands. Taxis will cost around $20-50 USD each way. Part of the problem is the return from the park to your hotel. Xavage Park is outside of the Cancun downtown and along the highway. This means there are limited taxis available returning to hotels. If you are more than two people traveling to this park, you might consider taking a taxi.

How does Xavage Park compare to Xplor and other parks?

There are many adventure parks in the Riviera Maya. Many people compare Xavage to Xplor and wonder which park is best to visit. Both of these parks offer a great time and adventure, but there are a few differences between the parks. Personally, we have been to both parks multiple times as well as most of the attractions here in the Riviera Maya. Here is our opinion on the differences between the two parks.

  • Xavage is closer to Cancun. Xplor is closer to Playa Del Carmen.
  • Xplor has two routes with 7 ziplines each. Xavage has two zip lines where you lay flat.
  • Both parks have a driving activity. Xplor has driving through the woods, tunnels and bridges. Xavage is an obstacle course with extreme driving.
  • Both parks have a type of kayaking. Xplor offers it in an underground river and Xavage has it outdoors in canals.
  • Xavage has the four-level obstacle course. Xplor does not have this but does offer swimming in underground river.
  • Xavage has the rafting which is unique to there.

Our recommendations: If you have been to one park before, you might like to try the other park. Both parks are very well designed and good value. If distance and travel time are important, one park is close to Cancun and the other closer to Playa Del Carmen. Do you like more zip lines, then Xplor has much more of this. If more extreme activities are what you are looking for, Xavage is a better park for you.

If you have time, you can buy tickets to both parks and get even more of a discount if you want to visit these two parks.

Note: There are other adventure parks in the Riviera Maya. Some of them have ATVs, some zip lines and other activities. Most of these are more basic parks and offer less value. It is good to be aware of this when you see ads or people selling tours. You do not want to purchase some of these tours thinking it is the same as Xavage. You get what you pay for most of the time, and it is important to choose quality experiences for your vacation.

Other common questions about Xavage Park

What restrictions are there for this park?

  • There is a minimum age of 5 to enter park. Children must accompany an adult at all times in the park.
  • There are different weight and height requirements for each activity. If you are brining children, check what is required for each activity your child wants to do. Larger than normal adults also should check individual requirements for activities.
  • Certain activities are not available to women who are pregnant.
  • Some activities are not recommended for people suffering from epilepsy, asthma, hypertension, diabetes, or with neck and/or back problems, with recent surgeries or history of heart problems.
  • All activities are subject to weather conditions.

What days is Xavage Park open and what are the hours?

Xavage Park is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30am-5:00pm.

What to bring and what to wear to the park

Aqua socks or water shoes that wrap around your feet are the best thing to wear at Xavage. You will be able to use these on all activities without changing shoes. Flip flops/sandals are not allowed on all activities since they can fall off. Sneakers can be used on all activities, but they will get wet. If you need to get some water shoes, they do sell quality ones at the park, but they are about $40 USD. You can find them in supermarkets in Mexico and other stores often for about $20 USD. It is best though if you come prepared for your vacation and buy them before coming so you can save time.

For clothes, it is best to have something that can get wet and also a change of clothes for going back to your hotel. This can be a pair of shorts and a shirt or swim trunks and a shirt. Both women and men can wear a swimsuit all day, but there are activities that you will not get wet on and might look a little out of place wearing just a swimsuit. A coverup or shirt also helps block out the sun. Hats are pretty useless since you need to wear a helmet during your time in the park.

Bring a towel since these are not provided. There are showers available to rinse off with.

Lockers are free of charge. You will get a special wristband with an electronic chip for your locker key. Lockers can hold a medium size backpack.

Sunscreen and bug spray must be biodegradable. If you only have chemical sunscreen, you can trade it in for biodegradable when you arrive. The reason for biodegradable is to keep the environment clean of harmful chemicals.
