Shopping for what you need can always be a challenge in Playa Del Carmen. We are bringing you a shopping guide for athletic wear.
Sports Stores in Playa Del Carmen
There are two main stores we recommend and a few other places to check. Don’t expect bargains or discount prices. In fact a lot of athletic shoes and wear are full retail priced and more than in the United States or Canada. If you cannot find what you are looking for, email us and we will try to find it or point you in the right direction.
Marti Store
Marti is the biggest store that carries only athletic wear. They have a selection of all kinds of shoes, running gear, swimming wear, gym clothes, some camping supplies, bicycles of good quality, and other exercise equipment. Marti has several locations in Playa Del Carmen. Sometimes selection is better in one store over another for certain things. Centro Maya Shopping Mall has a Marti Store. There is a Marti store in the Quinta Alegria shopping plaza on 5th Avenue.
Mister Tennis Store
Mister Tennis is more of a running store with clothes as well as clothes for exercise. There is a Mister Tennis store in the Plaza Las Americana Mall.
Full Sand Store
Full Sand stores covers you for swimwear. They have a store in Paseo Del Carmen at the south end of 5th Avenue and one in Centro Maya Shopping Plaza.
Other Stores in Playa Del Carmen
In both shopping centers, Centro Maya and Plaza Las Americas there are a few other stores where you can look for items you need. In Plaza Las Americas across from Mr. Tennis is All Sport store and there is a Sears in the mall as well to mention bigger name stores. The new shopping center on 5th avenue called Quinta Alegria also has some small stores including a Nike store, Columbia sportswear store and Marti.
Most of the larger grocery stores have inexpensive wear. Walmart tends to have the better selection. If you are looking for basic shoes that are not name brand or serve a particular sport you can try Juarez Avenue between 10th and 25th Avenues or 30th Avenue around 54th St.

Any chance you have come across a store that may sell Big and Tall clothing. Nothing worse than realizing that you’ve forgotten something and being 6ft3 and over 300lbs it makes it hard to find clithing…. hahaha
It is hard to find those things here. Most Mexican and those of Mayan decent are much smaller framed. The best options would be in the shopping malls like Centro Maya on the south end of town. There is the larger mall in Cancun called Plaza Las Americas and the mall named the same here in Playa. Some of the stores in Centro Maya have a wider selection. That is about as good as it gets. Sorry for not offering you more options. Shopping is hard here and with hardly no sales, full retail prices, and random selection and supply, you have to buy when you see something. Many people that are expats go shopping in Florida for clothes at the outlet malls.
I am glad I found your post because I am coming to do some sport in Playa Del Carmen and need to get some workout clothes.
Anyone know if there is anywhere to get Quintana Roo Tigres gear in Playa Del Carmen or Cancun. El Siglo the manufacturers do not ship to Canada.

You can find some at Walmart actually and sometimes at Marti. Don’t expect to find bigger dumbbells. These you will need to order.

Where can I find good quality tennis racquets?
If you know your makers of racquets you might try Amazon Mexico. Most ship from Mexico City. There are a few places where you can buy a racquet but you are better off ordering one online.

We have not seen any here in Playa Del Carmen.

We have not seen them here in Playa. Amazon.mx is one of the best sources for random things. You might try in a pharmacy in one fo the supermarkets.
Is there a store where you can buy baseball stuff (bats, gloves etc.)?
There is not a good store to get quality equipment. The best is to order it on Amazon.mx Stores like Walmart have limited selections of gloves sometimes. Plaza Las Americas mall in Playa has a few stores with options. Bats are going to be the hardest to find.
I need to buy adidas soccer cleats (copa mundiales) for my 12 year old son. Is there a store that sells those in Playa del Carmen (or even Cozumel). thank you.
You can try Marti store on 30th Ave near 12th street. We are not sure they have them but this around be a good place to start.
Where can I buy Hoka one one running shoes ?
We have not see Hoka shoes in Mexico. You can buy them off Amazon Mexico though. This would be your best option.
