Dos Ojos Lodge is a small 4 bedroom hotel tucked into the forest right next to the Dos Ojos cenote system and the Sac Aktun cenote system. (two of the world’s largest cenote systems) These underground caves are connected and easily explored by diving or snorkeling. This location is perfect for those looking to explore some of the Yucatan Peninsula’s most interesting cenotes or nearby Xel-ha eco park. The Lodge even has its own entrance into this magical underground cave system which the owners can show you. You may also choose this location because it is quiet and give you a place to relax.
The hotel itself is highlights the simple life in the Yucatan, Mexican style rooms complete with hammocks and private bathrooms. A large roof deck with a palapa awaits you after a day exploring the caves or nearby attractions. Another palapa roofed kitchen area on the ground floor is used to serve you a continental breakfast of locally roasted coffee, tea, a selection of fresh baked goods, local fruit and honey, juice and granola.
The likeable American couple that runs the hotel will be able to give you all the local information you need so you can enjoy your stay.
If you do not have a car, the collectives can pick you up and drop you off on the highway, it is a short walk into the property on the main road to the cenotes. The lodge is 30 minutes south of Playa Del Carmen just off the highway.
We were diving near this lodge and enjoyed staying here. They were very hospitable and I like the rooftop for chilling.
We stayed at Dos Ojos and had a very enjoyable time. We had a car so it was easy to drive into Tulum to get supplies and still feel like we were staying in the jungle. The owners were very nice and accommodating too.
