We hope if you get to go to one of these hotels on Cozumel that you have a great time!
Do you have to have a local Quintana Roo ID to do this day trip, or does that mean only the price will be different if you do not have a local ID??
This was something that was offered for a limited time. It was a promotion for locals with IDs only. However, most of the large resorts offer day passes. It depends on availability. We have an article here with more information. It was posted a while ago, but we have updated it. https://everythingplayadelcarmen.com/day-passes-at-hotels/
Which ferry do you recommend to take to Cozumel? Should we purchase tickets today or just before we leave tomorrow?
Also should we wait to rent scooter there or make reservation ahead? We are planning going there 28.12. tomorrow.
Everyone just buys their tickets in the morning for the next departing ferry. So it is pretty easy. For scooters, wait until you get there. That way you can see the quality of the scooters and look at options. It should be noted that there are a decent amount of scooter accidents on Cozumel. Most are tourist that are not used to checking each intersection if you stop or go, or if the other way has to stop. Other reasons for accidents are the road conditions. Some hit potholes, topes (speedbumps), slippery roads after first rain, hidden potholes after a rain, and so on. There are dune buggies also for rent. Most cars are basic and in medium shape, just so you know options.
Muchas gracias
Hello, me again. Do you have any tips for renting affordable transportation other then scooter that we can use to get around Cozumel. Just for one day. We want to drive around, visit some points of interest, beaches..
Gracias
Most of the car rentals are about the same price. We like going a few blocks into town and renting there. The ones at the pier seem very aggressive and you don’t really know where you are renting or get to see the actual location with cars. There is a bus that has some routes, but you will be limited as to where you will go. You can dive all of the loop of Cozumel in a half day with a few stops or a longer stop at the beach and a few other stops.
