We were recently introduced to Naiara who is a Playa Del Carmen wedding photographer. She owns Naal Wedding Photography. This talented wedding photographer has a slightly different take on things and a unique way to see the world that can lead to beautiful photos of your wedding, event or other occasion.

How long have you been in Playa Del Carmen and where are you from?

I have lived in Playa Del Carmen since 1996 and am from Spain.

Why did you move to Playa Del Carmen?

I was living in Egypt and knew some Mexicans there and they were always talking about the Rivera Maya and Playa Del Carmen. I planned on visiting for a few months but found myself living in Playa Del Carmen after a short while! I had lived three years before Egypt in Baja California so I already loved the country, culture, but the Rivera Maya gave me the final push to stay.

How long have you been a wedding photographer and how did you get started?

I started in 2008 as a photographer. I started working with my own small company where I took hundreds of photos a day in different conditions. I learned how to take photos in the jungle and places where the lighting constantly changed. With so much practice of taking thousands of photos I blended it with my creativity and now work as a destination wedding photographer love my work.

What is your main focus in photography?

My main focus is wedding photography and trash the dress sessions where we do fun photo sessions after the wedding with the wedding dress. I also love to do family photos and pregnancy and newborn photos.

What are some of your favorite places to take photos?

I love the beaches of Tulum, cenotes and sunrise and sunset but best of all is when the couple or people are comfortable in whatever setting because I focus on them and less about the location. I recommend locations based on my clients requirements.

How would you describe you style of photography?

I like to go with the flow and I don’t like to have everyone posing all the time. It is nice to catch the little moments that happen at a wedding.

As a photographer what makes you a little diffent than others?

I like the uncommon things. If I have clients that want to jump out of a plane, I will do it. If people want to go diving and take photos under the water, I will do it (and have done it). I also travel to all destinations if people want that.

What languages do you speak?

I speak Spanish, English and French.

What tips do you have for people looking to hire a wedding photographer here?

Tip- Check with a hotel before you book about their vendor policy. Many resorts will charge a high fee to bring in outside videographers, DJ’s, florist and photographers. It is your wedding and you want to be able to use the people you like and know you will have good services. Many hotels that provide the services, are basic and more concerned about getting the job done than independent people that have their reputation on the line.
Tip- May and November is high season for photography. It is best to book 5-6 months in advance.
Tip- Many times you can get a better price with me than the hotel photography service. So check with me before you assume the hotel will be a better price.
