Which Park is better? Xavage or Xplor?
Xavage and Xplor are two of the activities parks here in the Riviera Maya. They both offer extreme fun and adventure. If you are trying to decide which is best for you, you have come to the right spot. We have been to both parks multiple times and can give you an honest look at both parks so you can make a decision. To help you decide, we have an overview of what each park offers and also a video of each park. At the end of this article, we also have our give you our favorite between these two parks and make some recommendations for you.
What Does Xavage Park Have for Attractions and What is Included
This is how Xavage Park works, you arrive in the morning and have the day to participate in each activity that your tickets include. You can go back and do the same activities more than once if you like. Some activities you will get wet, so be sure to see our guide to visiting Xavage Park here for details on what the wear and other tips. in between the activities you have a chance to visit the snack bar and the lunch buffet where you can visit all afternoon.
Xavage Park has two types of entrances, basic and all-inclusive. We recommend the all-inclusive because you can do everything at the park and make a day of it. Xavage has 6 activities for guests in the park. Also included in your entrance is the kids splash zone, buffet lunch, snack bar, showers, and lockers. Here is a list and brief description of the activities in this park. You can see our detailed video below which shows you some of the fun you will have here at Xavage.
- Kayaking. Kayak though some of the calm canals while observing nature.
- Rope obstacle courses. Challenge yourself to one of 4 levels of obstacle courses. You will have a harness and security line on the whole time. The first level is the easiest and it gets harder the higher you go. This activity takes about one hour to 90 minutes to finish depending on how many levels you wish to do.
- Flying on a zip line. There are two tracks that you can take a short flight on. There is a special body harnesses that allows you to lay face down and fly through the air. This is a little different form of zip lining. Tip: Relax and enjoy your flight! The track moves some and you will naturally sway side to side on this ride.
- Power boat ride. Zoom down some of the canals at Xavage Park. You will experience speeds up to 45 Mph (72 Kph). Sometimes doing a 360 turn in the water. These boats are so powerful you will feel like you are flying. These are the same type of boats that are used for racing. Now you can experience these fast boats in a controlled space. You will get wet during this activity.
- White water rafting. This unique manmade course will give you a taste of what it is like to go white water rafting. Each raft has an experienced captain that will give you instructions before going down the route. it is fairly easy to learn how to sit and paddle and it more fun than anything. During the trip you will go over two drops. One is a class 2 of 1 meter and a class 2 of 2 meters. Overall, this is a fun activity that can get your adrenaline pumping a little. The first time on rafting we thought it would feel a little dangerous, but it turned out to be all fun!
- Extreme monster truck driving. If you have ever wanted to challenge your driving skills on an extreme driving course, here is your chance! The course is one mile and has 15 obstacles on it. These specially designed vehicles allow you to take on some tough driving. You can drive and you have the option of one passenger per vehicle.
What Does Xplor Park Have and What is Included
This is how Xplor Park works. You arrive in the morning and check in. Afterward you change in the lockers and select which activity you want to start with (we have some good tips in our article on Xplor here). You can do each activity once but can go back to do activities again based on availability, but we have found it is always available. Most of the day you will walk around half wet and lose yourself in the maze of trails and tunnels that run through the park. During the day you can visit the snack bar and buffet. At the end of the day, you head to the lockers and change to go home.
Xplor has both daytime park hours and entrance and the nighttime entrance called Fuego (fire). We prefer the daytime since the park is beautiful and the views from all those zipline are better in the day. Some of the things included at Xplor are lockers, showers, snack bar, buffet lunch,
- Float through the caves on a raft. This tranquil activity will take you through beautiful caves that are lit up. Enjoy a short or longer route paddling through the crystal-clear underground rivers.
- Amphibious vehicles. You can drive these special vehicles as one person or up to 4 people. There are trails through the jungle, across bridges, through tunnels and water.
- The new waterslide. Take a raft down this slide and experience twist and turns all the way until you end the whirlpool.
- Swim in the underground rivers. See the natural beauty of the peninsula as you swim through crystal clear water.
- Ziplines galore! There are two routes of ziplines with 7 runs on each. These are the best ziplines in the Riviera Maya! You will have time to do both routes and offer a second time if you wish.
Here is a video about visiting Xplor Park. This is an older video we made for our readers, and we will soon be updating this.
What is the difference between Xavage and Xplor Parks?
The biggest differences between Xavage and Xplor are:
- Xplor is close to Playa Del Carmen and Xavage is close to Cancun. You can still visit each park from each area, you just have about 45 minutes of more travel time if you want to go to the park that is farther away.
- Xavage and Xplor both have height, age and weight requirements for different activities. Xavage is in our opinion more physical and has a little more restriction.
- Park hours are slightly different. Xplor is open Monday to Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm. Xavage Park is open Tuesday to Saturday 8:30am-5:00pm. Both parks are closed on Sundays.
- Xplor has been around for longer which means the plants and trees have grown in around everything and the place really feels like an adventure with the caves and jungle vibe. Xavage is a newer park and the plants are growing. It is not a huge difference, but something we notice because we have been many times to each park.
- Fun factor. Xavage has the monster trucks, power boat and rafting that really excite people the most. Xplor has two routes of zip lines, the huge waterslide, and the other cool activities. In general, we have more fun at Xplor.
Some of the Same Things at These Parks
- Throughout both parks are cameras that click photos at the perfect time. Photo packages are available at both Xplor and Xavage Parks. This can be helpful because many of the activities you cannot have cameras in your hands, or it is not possible to get the shot.
- Both parks are owned by Xcaret. These means you can buy combo tickets for both parks or combine a purchase with other Xcaret Parks.
- Both parks offer transportation. This much be purchased with your entrance tickets. We offer different advice in our articles about Xplor and Xavage for what transportation is bests depending on where you are coming from.
- Both parks are very safe. Safety is key at these adventure parks, and we have never felt unsafe while participating in activities.
What is the difference in price for tickets for these parks?
Well, this will not be a factor in buying tickets because both Xplor and Xavage have the same price for adults and children. Currently the price with no discounts is 2924.81 Pesos or 149.99 USD for adults. Children are 2193 Pesos or 112.49 USD. These are the prices if you walked in today and bought your tickets or online for less than 7 days from now. But if you are smart about it, you can buy in advance and get a good discount. See below.
What is the best way to get a discount on tickets to Xplor or Xavage?
These are both great adventure parks to visit and even better when you save some money. Here are the best ways to get tickets and also a discount. The best way to buy your tickets is on the official website of Xcaret which owns these two parks. Then you have two options, buy 7 days in advance and save 10% off or buy more than 21 days in advance and get 15% off! This can save a family a nice amount of money that you can use to go out for dinner or something on your vacation.
Most likely you know the dates you are coming in vacation and can pick one day to visit the park of your choosing. But don’t worry because if it rains or you change your mind, you can change the date up to 24 hours in advance (see exact policy for each individual Xcaret Park or tour). Below we have a link to the official website. This is an affiliate link, which means if you click this and purchase your tickets, we get credit for referring you and it helps support our website. It is a win win because you get the best price possible on the tickets and hopefully our advice helps you pick the best park to visit. We hope whichever park you choose, you have an amazing time!
What is our recommendation for the best park?
Overall, we like Xplor Park better. There are more activities (mainly how long the two zipline routes are), nicer setting with caves and jungle cover, better restaurant experience, and is overall more fun for a group or family. There are more things that everyone will do at Xplor because there might be some that don’t want to do everything at Xavage like rafting or the obstacle course (but of course this will depend on your group). We know that most people agree with us because Xplor is visited more than Xavage Park.
We do have fun at both parks and both parks are way ahead of other adventure parks in the Riviera Maya for the most part. It will depend on what activities appeal to you. You might like the idea of trying white water rafting and really want to go to Xavage for just that reason. Or you might like zip lines more than other activities and go to Xplor. Xplor would give you a much greater experience with zip lines sine there are so many platforms and two lines. Or you might have gone to Xplor before, so now is a chance to up the adrenaline and try Xavage.
But if you still cannot decide, you can always go to both parks and see for yourself. It is very easy in a week to do two parks and best of all Xcaret makes it easy to buy combo tickets where you can save 20% off! That is the most you can save! Just click the link below and go to the official website of Xcaret and book your two parks or tour to go on.
